Garage Door Styles & Colors We Install

Browse the styles, colors and windows below, then book a free measure and we’ll give you a written quote.

We install garage doors from C.H.I. Overhead Doors, an American manufacturer known for well-built steel doors and its woodtone finishes. Every door below comes in multiple sizes, colors and window options, so think of these as starting points rather than a final menu.

Step 1

Pick a collection

Timeless Collection

Classic stamped-steel designs that suit colonials, ranches and most traditional North Shore homes.

  • Raised Panel — the traditional raised-panel look in short or long panels, with insulated options.
  • Stamped Carriage House — the carriage house look stamped into steel in short or long panels, with a simpler, low-maintenance build. Optional magnetic hardware.
  • Stamped Shaker — clean shaker-style panels for farmhouse and transitional homes.

Contemporary Collection

Flush, minimal exteriors with custom design options. Built for modern homes, and they work on classic ones too.

  • Sterling — sleek smooth-steel panels with frameless tinted glass.
  • Planks — horizontal plank lines for modern and ranch homes.
  • Skyline Flush — a smooth flush panel with a wide choice of window layouts.

Carriage Collection

Warm, welcoming carriage house doors in a range of materials and designs, with decorative handles and hinges.

  • Shoreline — carriage house style in heavily insulated steel with woodtone finishes. (Yes, the same name as us.)
  • Overlay Carriage House — layered overlays for real depth, with square or arched tops.

Full-View Collection

Aluminum frames with full glass panels. Bright and modern, and a favorite for city garages and homes with a view.

  • Full-View Aluminum — solid colors, clear anodized or woodtone frames, with plain, frosted, obscure or tinted glass.

Recessed Panel

Steel embossed with a natural woodgrain pattern for a classic frame-and-panel wood look.

  • Recessed Panel — short, long, combo or flush panel designs in white, almond or sandstone.

Step 2

Choose a color

Most doors come in classic solid colors, and many also come in wood-look finishes. Exact colors vary by collection.

  • White
  • Almond
  • Sandstone
  • Desert Tan
  • Gray
  • Graphite
  • Bronze
  • Brown
  • Black
  • Woodtones

Accents Woodtones

Wood-look finishes give you the warmth of real wood without the upkeep, on insulated steel. Choices include oak, cedar, walnut and driftwood looks, and they’re available on many of the doors above. Finishes vary by style, so ask us which ones yours comes in.

Colors look different on a screen, so we’ll bring color samples to your measure appointment.

Step 3

Add windows and insulation

Windows

Short, long or oversized window sections, with decorative inserts on most styles. Glass choices include plain, frosted, obscure, tinted, seeded and rain, plus designer patterns on some styles.

Insulation

Most doors come uninsulated or insulated, and some are very heavily insulated. If your garage is attached or there’s a room above it, insulation makes a real difference in a Chicago winter. See the comparison below.

Hardware

Decorative handles and hinges finish the carriage house look. Most are permanent, and Stamped Carriage House also offers magnetic hardware you can move or remove later.

Insulation levels, compared

LevelTypical R-valueWhat it isBest for
UninsulatedNoneA single layer of steel with nothing behind it.Detached garages and the lowest price.
Polystyrene
Good
About R-8 to R-10Rigid foam panels fitted inside the door.Attached garages. A solid middle option for warmth and quieter operation.
Polyurethane
Best
About R-13 to R-18Foam injected between two steel skins, where it expands and bonds to them.Rooms above the garage and cold Chicago winters. The warmest, quietest and most dent-resistant option.

What’s an R-value? It measures how well a door holds heat. The higher the number, the better. For example, a typical polystyrene door is around R-10, while the polyurethane Shoreline door is rated R-17.54. That’s a big difference in an attached garage during a Chicago winter. Exact R-values vary by model, so we’ll give you the number for the door you pick.
