Same-day emergency garage door repair
Broken spring this morning? Door stuck open and you need to leave? Call or text (847) 841-0279 — an owner picks up, and urgent jobs go to the front of the day.
A garage door fails at the worst possible moment by definition. It's 7 AM and your car is sealed in, or the door won't come down and your house is open to the street.
Shoreline takes urgent calls Monday through Saturday, 7 AM to 6 PM. You reach us directly rather than an answering service, and we'll tell you honestly where you sit in the day.
Urgent jobs go to the front of the day. A tune-up can wait; a door stuck open can't. Tell us what's happening when you call and we'll slot you in.
Call us first, not last
What counts as urgent
If any of these are happening, ring rather than using the booking form — it's faster and we can slot you in.
- Your door won't close. An open garage is an open door to your house, your tools and your cars. This is the one we'll rearrange the day for.
- A loud bang, and now it won't lift. That's almost always a broken torsion spring. The door now weighs 150 to 300 pounds with nothing counterbalancing it.
- The door is off its track or hanging crooked. It can come down hard. Stop using it and leave it where it is.
- A cable snapped. You'll see the door at an angle, or a loose cable near the track. Running the opener makes it worse.
- The door closed on something. If the safety sensors didn't stop it, they need looking at before anyone uses that door again.
- Your car is trapped inside. Tell us when you call — it changes where you land in the day.
Before we get there
What to do while you wait
Don't force it open. A door with a broken spring has lost its counterweight entirely — you'd be lifting the full weight. This is where people get hurt.
Don't keep pressing the opener. If the door is off track or a cable has gone, running the motor drags the damage further and can turn a spring repair into an opener replacement.
Text us a photo. Send it to (847) 841-0279 — we can often identify the part from a picture and bring the right one, which is the difference between one visit and two.
On the truck
What we fix on urgent calls
Broken springs
Torsion and extension springs, replaced with properly sized, cycle-rated parts rather than whatever happens to fit. More on spring replacement.
Snapped cables
Frayed or broken lift cables re-run and tensioned, with the drums re-set so the door sits square.
Doors off track
Re-seated and re-aligned, with the underlying cause found so it doesn't happen again next month. More on off-track repair.
Opener failures
Chain, belt and smart openers — motors, gears, sensors, remotes and logic boards. More on opener repair.
Rollers and bent track
Worn rollers replaced and bent sections straightened or swapped so the door runs quietly again.
Safety sensor faults
Misaligned or failed photo-eyes re-aimed, re-wired or replaced, then tested against the reversal requirement.
We carry common spring sizes and opener parts on the truck, so most urgent calls are finished in a single visit.

Common questions
Emergency service, answered
Can you come out today?
Usually, yes. Same-day is normal for calls that come in during our hours, and an emergency jumps the queue ahead of scheduled work like tune-ups. Call as early as you can and we'll tell you honestly where you sit in the day.
Are you open on Saturday?
Yes — 7 AM to 6 PM, same as a weekday.
How fast can you actually get there?
Same-day is standard for calls that come in during business hours, and we'll give you a real arrival window on the phone rather than a vague promise.
Can you fix it in one visit?
Yes, in almost every case. Our trucks carry common spring sizes, cables, rollers and opener parts. If a less common door needs a part ordered, we'll tell you on the spot rather than after.
Do you charge extra for a Saturday or an urgent call?
No. The service call is the same figure whatever day you ring. We'd rather have a price you can trust than a number that moves depending on how urgent your situation sounds.
