When repair no longer makes sense

New Garage Door Installation in the North Shore

Help choosing the right door for your house, the old one taken away, and a new one installed and set up properly.

Most of what we do is repair, and we'll always tell you when a repair is the better value. But some doors have simply reached the end: sections that are rotted, cracked or badly dented, a door that's been knocked off its track more than once, or a house where the old door just doesn't fit the look anymore.

When that's where you are, we'll install a new door start to finish — and because we don't work on commission, you'll get honest advice on what you actually need rather than the most expensive option on the sheet.

Repair or replace

Signs it's time for a new door

Damaged or rotting sections

Cracked, rotted or badly dented panels, especially on older wood doors that have been through decades of Chicago winters.

Repairs keep piling up

A second or third significant repair in a short stretch usually means the whole door is wearing out together.

It's cold, loud or drafty

Older uninsulated doors let in cold and noise, which matters most on attached garages and rooms over the garage.

Safety and security

Very old doors and hardware can be harder to keep balanced and secure. A new door fixes that in one go.

Curb appeal

The garage door can be a big share of the front of the house. A new one changes how the whole house looks.

Selling the house

A tired door stands out in listing photos. Replacing it is one of the more visible updates you can make.

How it works

From first visit to finished install

We look at your opening. We measure, check the framing and headroom, and look at the rest of the system so there are no surprises on install day.

We help you choose. Style, material, color, insulation and windows. We'll talk through what fits your house and how you use the garage, and give you the full price in writing.

We install it properly. The old door comes down and goes away with us. The new door goes up with new track and springs sized to its weight, then gets balanced and tested.

We connect the opener. If your opener still has life in it, we reconnect and adjust it for the new door. If it's time for a new one too, see garage door opener repair and installation.

Common questions

New door installation, answered

Should I repair my garage door or replace it?

If the problem is a spring, cable, roller or opener, repair is almost always the better value. Replacement makes sense when the sections themselves are damaged or rotting, when repairs keep stacking up, or when you want a different look or better insulation. We'll tell you honestly which side of that line you're on.

How long does a new garage door installation take?

Most standard residential installs are finished in a single day once the door has arrived. We'll give you a realistic timeline when we order it.

Do you take the old door away?

Yes. Removing and hauling away the old door is part of the job.

Can I keep my existing opener?

Often, yes, if it's in good shape and suited to the new door. We'll check it and tell you honestly if it's worth keeping.

How much does a new garage door cost?

It depends on size, material, insulation, windows and style, so we give you a written quote after measuring rather than a number over the phone. See what affects garage door costs.
